Yoga Neuromechanics: The science of flexibility Ever wonder why some people are more flexible than others? Or what you can do to improve your own flexibility? In this two hour workshop, Robyn will provide you the with an overview of the neural and mechanical components that modulate flexibility to help you understand the inner workings of your body during yoga asana. Learn how muscle, connective tissue, and the nervous system integrate to govern your range of motion.
Yoga Neuromechanics Experience Weekend
Science of Flexibility - Friday evening lecture Ever wonder why some people are more flexible than others? Or what you can do to improve your own flexibility? In this two hour workshop, Robyn will provide you the with an overview of the neural and mechanical components that modulate flexibility to help you understand the inner workings of your body during yoga asana. Learn how muscle, connective tissue, and the nervous system integrate to govern your range of motion. Weekend experience Building on the concepts introduced in Friday’s Science of Flexibility lecture, we will begin to systematically explore how the nervous system controls, coordinates, and learns movement, and why traditional anatomy isn’t all that important. Pertinent concepts in neurophysiology, neuroscience, motor control, rehabilitation, and pain science will be introduced.
In addition, you will leave with a firm understanding of: • how to assess joint range of motion and movement patterns • the difference between flexibility and mobility and how to improve both • the difference between motor control and stability • how to facilitate motor learning through external, rather than internal cueing • provide effective adjustments to address common movement restrictions
Movement Neuromechanics (Saturday AM/PM): Don’t let the fancy words deter you. Over the course of 4 hours, we will systematically explore how the nervous system learns, coordinates, and controls human movement. This is not a dry lecture, but rather a movement based exploration of the mind-body connection. Basic concepts in neurophysiology, neuroscience, motor control, and pain science will be introduced.
Socket to me! (Sunday AM): Kick your knowledge up a level and learn to navigate the architecture of your ball and socket joints (hip and shoulder). With functional anatomy as our foundation, we will assess the movements of these joints to identify latent dysfunctional patterns, learn how to discern root cause of injury, and perform corrective and performance exercises to restore and enhance optimal mobility and stability. Workshop includes a set of Yoga Tune Up Therapy Balls.

Individuals often need more than just yoga or a movement practice to help them feel better in their bodies. This 3-hour workshop will provide you with a simple and effective self-myofascial release tool to help you erase pain, improve mobility and increase proprioception. Excavate tension from your head to your toes with simple techniques you can perform any time.
